we'll have that coming up in just a little while. 51 for the high tomorrow.Ĭiti field for game 1 of the nlcs coming up later in the half hour and eventually we have 70s again believe it or not. i think for today and tomorrow it's sunnier in the morning, cloudier in the afternoon. it's a freeze in the cold spots north and west of the city, brisk and chilly, intervals of clouds and sun tomorrow. there could be a sprinkle or a shower well north and west of the city during the afternoon, any of which could be mixed with a wet snow flake believe it or not. accuweather forecast for today, periods of sunshine and clouds. if we're lucky we get above the 50-degree mark. brisk and chillier today, the high getting up to about 56 as we head into tomorrow. it will feel like it's in the 30s, and that temperature will fall from the 49-degree reading down into the low 40s by game's end. bundle up in a lot of layers if you're heading to that mets game. we're talking down into the 30s tonight in new york city, down to freezing north and west, and down into the 20s well north and west of the city. the same thing could happen tomorrow afternoon. any of the showers or sprinkles in isolated areas that happen well north and west could be two. i don't want to scare anyone but here on the futurecast it's showing a couple of snowflakes falling over sullivan county, maybe pike county pennsylvania by later on today. another feature of this cold snap is some moisture being picked up off the great lakes, and some of that can make it into far north and western areas during the afternoon. right now 33 in sussex, down to 36 at monticello, mid-40s down the shore and on to parts of long island. if you have any type of sensitive outdoor vegetation, any plants that you want to survive this type of situation, just bring them in or cover them up if you can. in most of these outlying areas we'll get a thick frost or a killing freeze. i think some spots, though, drop into the 20s, especially well north and west. temperatures will tumble into the 30s even here in new york city for the next two nights. Here are the cold facts about the cold snap. it's a secondary cold front that has moved through the region, and behind that we get we're even here in the city parts of the five boroughs freezing mark. those will be our lowest temperatures of this cold snap by early monday morning. much of new jersey, also parts of the mid hudson valley into southwestern connecticut for a wider zone there's a free watch in effect for tomorrow night into early monday morning. the freeze warning is in effect for late tonight right through tomorrow morning. those are some snow showers coming in off the great lakes. it's a hard freeze in the area across much of the area for sunday night where we get 20s in the northern suburbs. highs barely reaching 50 during the day on sunday. temperatures feeling more like the 30s, even during the day, especially outside of the city with that wind. it's really the first jolt of cold that we've had this season. we're talking the highest elevations of the catskills and poconos.
